We recently had the awesome experience of being able to photograph the wedding and surrounding festivities of Colette & Jeremy. It was a beautiful, HOT day (remember those? This wasn’t even that long ago) at the Deer Lake Resort North of Spokane. The ceremony took place on the lake shore under the pleasant shade of the large trees.
This was a little different from most of my weddings in that I didn’t get to meet the bride and groom before their wedding day as they were visiting from Portland for their wedding day. Fortunately we hit it off quickly and at the end of the day it seemed like we were all good friends. After putting the camera and gear away I even hit the dance floor for a couple of songs and played DJ (just like the old days) for a few songs. My hope in photographing a wedding is that the photos will tell the story of the day. I think we accomplished that for Colette & Jeremy.
Congratulations to the awesome couple and we wish you all the best for your future.
Special BIG thanks to Shane Savage of Savage Unlimited for all of his help as my second photographer/assistant—especially since it was on short notice.

I had the pleasure of shooting a senior session for a very sweet girl. We had the session at her grandfather’s barn. It was funny because I’d driven by the location before and wanted to shoot there so when she asked me to shoot her senior photos and told me the location she had in mind, I was all for it.
Fortunately a great sunset came along for the ride. The old fire truck and antique bike were fun to use as well. Big thanks to Sarah’s sisters who came along and helped out a ton by holding lights for me, acting as Sarah’s stylists, and keeping the shoot light and fun. These girls come from a great family, and I only can hope that my 3 daughters grow up to be such good young ladies and friends.
Yes, you might recognize sarah’s sister, Lani, as one of my former models. To refresh your memory, you can check out the results of her shoot here.

Now a project that proves the efficacy of creative, high quality photography.
Talented local designer, Tanya Smith, contacted me in need of some promotional photos for her graphic and card designing businesses.
As I was wrapping up the shoot she mentioned that the local paper was going to be doing a news story on her business the next day. I offered to edit and send in a few photos to the paper just in case they needed them for the story. The reporter said I should send them in but they probably wouldn’t use them (I was sure that this was to protect the paper against having to use all of the bad photos they get everyday).
Tanya was so excited the day the article finally ran. She sent me an email exclaiming,
“Thanks to your awesome photo they gave me a half page article. Woo Hoo! When they said they weren’t going to use a photo I was really disappointed because I rarely look at an article without a picture.”
I was excited too, because I never look at articles that run without a photo. You can read the article here.
The photos are fairly self-explanitory except for the last one. The concept is that Tanya will be able to take the blank page and utilize her whimsical sketching abilities and draw various versions of her “other half.” I took liberties with my own version shown here, but rest assured that hers will be blank and she won’t have to use my drawings.
