Cody & Julia McComas were married in a private ceremony at the Spokane Temple on July 2, 2009.
Here are some of my favorites from the day. Everyone in both families was so relaxed that it made it a pleasure to photograph. The day was brutally hot, especially for the formal shots and the portrait session. We all ended up with a little extra sun, but in my opinion it was worth it. We made some portraits that they’ll be able to cherish years from now. By reception time the weather was perfect. The beautiful, shaded yard of the bride’s family was gorgeous and made my job pretty simple.
Thanks to the beautiful couple who trusted me with something so special.
I’m so excited to share some of the photos so let’s get to it.
I decided to try something a bit different with this one. I was so impressed with the final photos, I made a video slideshow from them. Let me know what you think. It took more work than I thought it would be to get the timing right and make sure the photos moved correctly, but I think it presents the photos in a way that is more like being at the event even if it lowers the quality of the photos. Let me know what your favorites are, I’m curious what others think.
As usual you can just click on the thumbnails of the photos (below the slideshow) if you want to view them that way. I think I like both ways.
Thanks to my assistants for the day—Gina for the first part and Seth Johnson at the reception.

And one more that I thought was really special. Sometimes when you compose a photo you have no idea what you’re going to get. Well, you have an idea, but sometimes you get a surprise.
This time it’s a photo of Cody and Julia looking at each other while her parents are dancing in the background. A nice moment to be sure but it wasn’t until I got it on the computer that I noticed what made it really special. There was light sprinkling through the trees on to the dance floor all evening. But on this shot in particular you can see the shapes that it cast on to Julia’s mom & dad. A heart on both of them. It’s a little more obvious on dad’s jacket, but if you look close you can see the beginnings of a heart on mom’s dress as well. Pretty cool and a nice surprise.

Great job dude. Nice video. I think you’ll have to show me what you did on that. The pictures are great too. Whatever tone you used work well.
